Education
School supplies, teacher support and scholarships for children in the mountain villages along the routes we walk. The schools on these trails often run on what the village itself can raise.

The gift that is given because it ought to be given, to one who can make no return, in the right place, at the right time, and to a worthy person: that gift is held to be sattvika.

Our Charity Initiative
Sama Yatra gives 11% of the revenue from every journey to education, healthcare and community projects in the regions we travel through. It is not a surcharge added to your bill and it is not an optional extra at checkout. It comes out of our own share, on every booking, whichever path you walk.
Three areas, chosen because they are what the villages along these routes actually ask for. The first projects in each are still being selected, and this page will name them once they are.

Rural health posts and medical camps in districts where the nearest hospital can be two days away on foot. The same altitude that makes a pilgrimage hard makes an ordinary illness dangerous.

Trail repair, temple and monastery upkeep, and support for the families whose work keeps these routes open. Every pilgrim who walks a path is walking on somebody else’s maintenance.

A giving promise that nobody can verify is marketing. These are the things we are committing to, and you are welcome to hold us to every one of them.
Profit is a number a company decides for itself. Revenue is what you paid us. The share is calculated on the journey price before our costs, which is the harder of the two commitments to make and the only one worth anything to you.
There is no minimum trip value, no excluded departure and no peak-season carve-out. A two-day Dakshinkali Devi Yatra contributes on the same terms as the twenty-day Manaslu Circuit and Serang Gompa Trek.
What came in, what went out, which projects received it and what they spent it on. Named projects and named amounts, on this page, where anyone can read them.
Until the first report is published, write to us and we will tell you where the money from your journey went. If we cannot answer that, the commitment is not real yet.
Sama Yatra is new. Journeys are running and the 11% is being set aside from each of them, but no annual report has been published, so there is nothing here to show you yet. When there is, it will be numbers and project names rather than a paragraph like this one.
Ask where your journey wentWhat the giving actually changed, told by the people it reached rather than by us.
No stories yet. We would rather leave this section empty than fill it with a stock photograph and a sentence nobody said. When a school, a health post or a traveller has something to tell you, it will be here in their words.
Every journey on this site carries the same 11%. You do not have to do anything, opt into anything, or pay anything extra for it to happen.
